Ala peanut butter sandwiches

September 6th, 2010

I love peanut butter. There are times when I go on a peanut butter sandwich rampage, which has me experimenting with different combinations: peanut butter and toasted marshmallows, peanut butter and jelly, peanut butter and chocolate.. you get the idea. I always make it a point to use good bread, because I believe you can’t make a decent sandwich with low-quality ingredients.

A good friend became a recent convert to my PB&J sandwiches after I split a white chocolate peanut butter with fig jam on a whole wheat baguette with her (unfortunately, both the peanut butter and jam flavors are pretty hard to find in Manila). “Pity we have such expensive and exotic taste buds,” she said, laughing. I’m still on the lookout for good peanut butter here, but this is the one I’d been using since April, after I brought home several jars from New York:

Has anyone tried Peanut Butter & Co. in SM North EDSA? It's not the same franchise as the one from NY, but I don't care. I just want to know if their peanut butter is any good.

A jar actually lasts me a long time, because only my older sister and I eat peanut butter at home. My younger sister and brother dislike both peanut butter and white chocolate, so they’re definitely not touching that. Which is fine by me, of course. On a trip to Singapore a couple of months ago, I visited Hershey World by the entrance of Universal Studios and discovered white chocolate Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, which are awesome as far as I’m concerned.

Sweet and salty in one little package

Any place that sells this much chocolate has to be good

Last night, my parents brought over some blueberry-flavored Lay’s potato chips from Shanghai. Any other interesting food finds?

there’s a peanut butter & co. in MOA as well. i haven’t gotten the chance to visit it yet, but i thought all along it was a franchise of the new york pb & co. soooo disappointed to find out it isn’t. i was hoping to stock up on sinfully fantabulous peanut butter. waaah. :(
