Much has been said about UCLA student Alexandra Wallace’s racist rant against Asians in her school. While we all admittedly harbor our own racist notions, the worst thing about this whole debacle is that Wallace is supposed to be a well-educated Political Science major who studies at one of the better schools in the U.S. And still, she brought herself to spew out that ignorant, racist rant about Asians on the Internet. I’m offended not just as an Asian, but as someone who believes in the educational system. What did her (expensive) education do for her? Nothing.
An entire race—an entire culture—was dismissed in a senseless stream of ‘ching chong ling long ting tong.’ Never mind the girl’s failure to understand the Asian culture of close family ties; think, instead, of how she failed to sympathize with tsunami victims, choosing to focus on her self-centered and misguided dedication to her schoolwork. Now that is a failure of her education.

what’s ‘funny’ is that she misguidedly mocked the Chinese. tsk tsk.
