Magazine cover FAIL

August 18th, 2010

I had to agree with Xeng Zulueta when she said, “I don’t know if the True Blood Rolling Stone cover is hot or not. Some of the ‘blood’ kinda reminds me of Hershey’s syrup.”

Well, Hershey’s syrup is exactly what was used in the bloody shower scene in Psycho, but at least that was shot in black and white, and the blood was spattered in an artfully gory manner. This cover looks like an apprentice cook’s first plating attempt with fine-tip squeeze bottles of ketchup and chocolate syrup. They don’t look hot and sexy, they just look sticky and dirty—and not in a good way.

Rolling Stone would’ve done better had they remembered that less really can be more: a single streak of dark red blood rolling down Anna Paquin’s body would’ve been more serviceable, and much hotter.

Amen. Saw this earlier and I think they kind of overdid the whole spatting.

I respectfully disagree. IMO the image captures in a nutshell what the show is about, and is arresting and captivating. I think the sexiness could be a judgement call, and I don’t find it unsexy. Except, of course, if Anna Paquin wasn’t in it, which would render it gay.

J–have you seen the edited cover without Anna Paquin in it? :p
