On the wedding

May 1st, 2011

As I was in the office the whole of Friday, I pretty much watched the entire coverage of Prince William’s wedding to Kate Middleton. All in all, a classy wedding with a beautiful bride. Some highlights and lowlights from the ceremony and aftermath:

Check out the sinister-looking pint-sized little girl

1. That little girl, Grace Van Cutsem. How could you not notice her? She’s the scary-looking toddler who seemed to hate the noise that came with the merrymaking on the balcony, and ended up ruining all the kissing photos. What a brat, haha. Classic photobombing at its best!

2. The people on my Twitter feed seemed to have noticed right away that Kate’s dress was reminiscent of Grace Kelly’s when she married Prince Rainier of Monaco. Maybe not wholly original, but it was a beautifully done classic piece from Alexander McQueen’s Sarah Burton.

Pippa Longstocking :p

3. Her sister, Pippa Middleton, was wearing a beautiful dress as well, but it was also in white. I’m surprised everyone seemed to be okay with that. And oh, that little girl really has no pleasant expression. Just look at her!

4. Prince William looked like a Buckingham Palace guard with his bright red coat. He did look much better with a hat on, though. The unflattering top-view angles the cameras seemed to be fond of enhanced his balding head—and girls everywhere decided to train their eyes on Prince Harry instead.

The moment that I wish happened but never did:

A classic episode that any Mr. Bean fan should remember

Mr. Bean accidentally knocking the Queen out cold. What’s the use of inviting Rowan Atkinson to a royal occasion if not to provide some well-meaning comic relief?
