I took this photo with my G11 at Hong Kong Disneyland, where my sister dragged me to the Mad Tea Party for a spin. The thing is, I usually categorically refuse to get on any ride that relies on spinning for thrills. Free falls, high-speed roller coasters, water rides—I’m up for those anytime. But not spinning. The last time I took one of those suspended swing rides, I nearly threw up. My family knows about my aversion to spinning rides, so they don’t usually insist. In fact, when I used to take pole dancing classes, I had to pop a motion sickness tablet before doing all those crazy twirls.
For some reason (maybe because it had a really short queue), I allowed Nikka to drag me to the Mad Tea Party. My stomach still felt a little queasy afterwards, but it wasn’t as bad as I thought. Plus, I ended up with an unexpected snapshot of strangers having fun on the ride. Score one for overcoming a minor fear.
