I’ve always been a huge fan of contests. When I wasn’t writing for Inquirer yet, I joined a couple of their contests and won on two occasions: a gift certificate for a restaurant, and an “almostkindaacoustic” CD (the name, Pam said, was almostkindannoying). Since then, I’ve always loved contests. So I’ll kick off my new blog with a contest.
I’m giving away five makeup bags from The Body Shop. Â Each bag contains one Shimmer Cubes Palette, a tube of Lip and Cheek Tint, one clear Love Gloss, one Kiss of Color cheek blush, and a tube of Hi-Shine Lip Treatment. Just answer the question, “What’s the funniest thing about being a twenteensomething?”
By twenteensomething, I mean anyone in their teens or 20s who feel that they’re too young to be old, or too old to be young. Or something like that. For me, it’s been crazy about how a lot of my friends have been getting married/engaged and having kids, while I still feel like I’m fresh out of college and trying to figure out the meaning of the universe from a grain of sand. Or a cookie crumb.
Just leave a comment with your name, blog/email address and your answer, of course. Deadline is Saturday, February 20, 2010 at 12 noon. I’d greatly appreciate it if you can pass the word. Thanks a million!

Being in my twenties i still feel like a child. i still enjoy playing in the field in barefoot with my girl friends and i’m still shy to admit my crushes! there’s the part of me that’s still a child but i do think sometimes im mature than the others in terms of my perspective in life. it’s like i have the simplicity of a child and the complexity of an adult all rolled into one package!
The funniest and greatest thing about being a ‘twenteen-something’ is that you’re NOT too young nor too old to try new things. You’re old enough for adult stuff (like responsibility, driving, drinking, voting, among others) and still young enough for kidstuff (like cartoons, or pa-cute stuff). You can explore, try new adventures and get away w/ almost anything you set your mind to. The greatest part of that is that you get to collect and save up on tons of memories to look back upon when you’re older.
feeling the upcoming quarter-life crisis is really bugging me. Looking for independence from your parents, yet still dependent on them in many forms is hard. it’s like wanting to throw things you know you still need. I guess age doesn’t really depicts maturity; they say w/ age comes wisdom… I’ll try to adapt it.

All I know is, with all these confusions and immaturity, I have my friends and family as my sanity keeper

Hello Bianca!
I just turned 25 last V-day! (haha, and I’m still having the hangover of it). Well, I must agree with you that being twenteensomething is really fun. While my other friends are fretting about getting married and having kids, I am on the other hand is having the time of my life!
I can go out anywhere I like without securing a husband’s permission and go on shopping sprees like there’s no tomorrow! I am free to explore a lot of new things, career, friendships and new hobbies. And being twenteensomething gives you the liberty to explore fun styles and live a carefree lifestyle!
But one thing that I find funny at being twenteensomething? Its to be often mistaken as a teener even though I’m on my way to mid-twenties.
Imagine having some people to ask for your ID at cinemas and other stores.
I always find it funny and amusing at times.
Nice blog! keep it up.
funny things for me about being a twenteensomething:
-realizing that people will look at you like you’re crazy if you try the playplace, kids playground and the “kids” part of the pool (where the water is shallow because i can’t swim) which were of-limits when you were a kid. mom said i can try them when i’m grown up na.
-leasening of the appeal of the toys that i wanted when i was a kid which my parents said i can have once i have a job, which i now do.
-not being sure if is it okay na to use anti-aging products.
The funniest thing about being a tweensomething is that even though you’re not a child anymore, you tend to act like one because you missed being a child and we all know that you can’t go back to being a child. Also, you tend to act like one because you think it’s cute, realizing that your friends are laughing at you. Or when you’re sick, you get confused if you should go to your pediatrician whose patients were 3 times LESS your age or go to some doctors whose patients were 3 times MORE your age (more like your mom & Dads; Lolos & lolas).
The funniest thing about being twenteensomething is you beat everybody else at videoke. You can sing the 70′s and 80′s songs your parents used to like while you can go 90′s (which your teen cousins or pamangkins refer to as “songs of their childhood”) and then bring the house down with “Poker Face.”
The funniest and if not the coolest thing about being tweenteen something is that I finally got the freedom to do whatever I wanted without caring what other people might think. Gone are the days when I was so concerned about others because after years of aging, I have finally mustered the courage to be myself.
I have just been addicted to nail art and colorful eyeshadows. After portraying the classic look for too long, I needed some more color. My husband thinks I’m regressing, and the salon where I usually go to thinks that it’s such a high school thing. BUT, I couldn’t care less! I love being me!
The best thing about being tweenteen is that you get away with making some immature decisions but are old enough to learn from them. You can have fun for the heck of it, without people saying “ano ba? bakit yan pa ung ginagawa niya???”
Being tweenteen also gives you a lot of choices, be it the way you chill, or the way you dress…. you are never boring!
I just found your blog, and I’m not sure if this will still count, but here goes my entry:
Being “twenteensomething” is quite amusing. I find it hilarious when I try in vain not to think about a huge zit that might show up on my face on a huge day like a team meeting day (or a coffee break with my crush, who occupies half of my brain at work). I smile at the envious looks of my officemates when I confidently pull off bold colors on a corporate attire when everyone else is in greys and neutrals. It’s amusing too when I get away with holding on to a copy of Twilight while gushing about Edward Cullen’s suave english while other people are talking about laundry and their maids.
It’s still crazy because at twenty, I feel like I can grab the sky but my feet won’t let me stand on my toes. Then I tell myself, where are my heels? (^_^)
What’s the funniest thing about being a twenteensomething?
doing extraordinary stuff you just thought out of the blue.
Like me i work in a call center and sometimes for some reason I found myself speaking in the vernacular saying “Ibig sabihin…” or sometimes I would end my call saying, “Thank you SO MUCH for calling…Take Care!” My officemate would look at me and start laughing.
twentienth something.. is very childlike to spent hours on finding coolest color for fashion make-ups and galore. spreading the news of shiny lip n cheek tint for supple skin to hi shine lip treatment to dark full color cheek blush on sunny freckle days!! hiding with concealer and silver-or gold cheek blush ons.. to shiny – stick blush- cheek- lip (3-in-1) stick for in a go trip jiggin’. being teen is being in style, in age being in tweet’s galore and hair style
Great post, I’m a big believer in commenting on blogs both for the reasons you’ve listed here but also as a way to help the blog authors know that they’ve added something of value to the web!
