Win a trip to South Africa

February 23rd, 2010

..If you and your sibling/cousin/niece/nephew/kid can win the Sony Ericsson contest to send a Filipino child (and a guardian) to South Africa to watch the FIFA World Cup. (Sorry, I wish I could give away a trip to South Africa on my blog, but I haven’t even been there yet. But keep posted, I’m going to run another contest this week.. and it’ll be something to look forward to).

All you have to do is make a 30-60 second video of said child showing why he/she deserves to win the Sony Ericsson Search for the FIFA World Cup flag bearer. Ask your sibling/cousin/niece/nephew/kid to act, dance, sing or show some football moves in the video. Involve other people and make it a full-blown production (it’ll improve your chances, believe me. My siblings and I once joined a Hershey’s contest where we made superhero costumes out of assorted chocolate wrappers. Looking back, it was a little mortifying, but we had loads of fun and plenty of funny photos after).

The winner, together with his/her guardian (i.e., you), will fly to South Africa complete with hotel accommodations and pocket money (Dang. My brother just turned 17 so he can’t join. Otherwise, I’d be making him sing and dance in front of a videocam by now).  The winner will walk the pitch with other young flag bearers and watch the FIFA World Cup semi-finals match firsthand. Contestants are allowed to submit all the entries they can until March 5, 2010. Even if you don’t make it to South Africa (and you know you want to), 5 finalists will win a Sony Ericsson Kita.

I don’t use a Sony Ericsson now as I use an iPhone, but I’ve nothing but praise for the brand, as I used their phones for years: they take great photos and are easy to navigate. The Kita sounds pretty spiffy, with a 5-megapixel camera, high quality media player and stereo speakers, aside from Internet capability. Not bad at all. Now go and make your sibling/cousin/niece/nephew/kid film that video, pronto.
